Cottage fries are a great way to switch up from traditional french fries. These Air fryer potato rounds crisp up nice and they taste amazing!

Cottage fries are what I dream about at night, lol. No really, these air fryer potato rounds come out crisp and delicious. They are a lot different from your basic steak fry or waffle fry.

They are circular potato slices, that you bake or fry and offer that perfect tender and crunchy aspect a fry should have. The best potatoes to use are russet potatoes. Using a mandolin you can slice them all into a large bowl.

I made these cottage fries in our Air Fryer. It gives you that deep fried taste and texture but using air to cook it instead of oil.

A lot healthier version, but it doesn't lack in flavor. Serve with your favorite dish or dip in a fry sauce, the choice is yours.

Homemade Air Fryer Cottage Fries

The other night I decided to make burgers and I always make my burgers from scratch and I decided that I wanted to make fries from scratch but I didn’t want just any fry I want something with a little added flavor and even a different shape.

I pulled out my Air fryer and sliced away some thin circular pieces of potato. Then a little sprinkle of garlic powder and parmesan cheese and into the Air Fryer they went. They turned out perfect, and I sprinkled with just a little salt at the end, for that perfect salty component that makes fries awesome.

Cottage fries are under-rated and a lot of times, people forget about them. Curly, steak, shoestring, those are the fries you see a ton.

I am not sure, because every single time we make these, the entire family devours them. Generally, I have to make a few batches because as soon as the kids get a whiff of them cooking, they come running.

These cottage fries are a homemade treat to help compliment any main dish. Whether it be a nice meatloaf, juicy burger, or even a chicken dish! These potato round fries are the bomb dot com.

These Homemade Air Fryer Cottage Fries were some of the best fries that I have ever eaten.

You can also bake for 15 mins in the oven or until golden brown if you don't have an air fryer or just don't feel like air frying

Tip For Keeping Cottage Fries From Sticking In Air Fryer

What I like to do is take some olive oil spray and just lightly spray the Air Fryer before I put potatoes down.

Then in between flipping, I spray it so that the basket gets nice and coated and won't cause the potatoes to stick and then get torn up during the cooking process.

It works great and offers a hint of that oily taste and texture to the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper when they are done cooking and they are still hot.

I have used my Air fryer so much it has become an asset in my kitchen. I love to toss in store-bought items like mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, and more.

But, the part I love the most is I can make homemade items like baked avocado eggs for breakfast, or my famous lemon air fryer pound cake that everyone loves.

Cottage fries make an amazing potato side dish and are a great alternative to french fries or even baked potatoes. Did you know that people also call them home fries?

You can make desserts, main dishes, sides, and more in your Air Fryer. I use it almost equal to my Instant Pot!

Why are they called Cottage Fries?

They're called cottage fries because they supposedly look like the shingled roofs on those cute little houses you see in the movies and on travel brochures.

Is it better to soak potatoes before frying?

Rinsing or soaking the potatoes for an hour (or, even better, overnight) will remove some of the starch from the surface and prevent the sugars from browning before the potatoes are cooked.
