Recipes to Celebrate National Pretzel Day (1)

Disclosure

Did you know that April 26th is National Pretzel Day? Yuh-huh. It sure is. If you’re anything like me, you don’t really NEED an excuse to snack but having one doesn’t hurt. When we changed our eating habits a few years ago, we tried to find snacks that suited our taste buds without killing our caloric pocketbook. Pretzels were one of those solutions. We almost always have them around because Miss K is a fanatic about pretzels. Rold Gold Cheddar Tiny Twists are her snack of choice – both at home and at school. When we run out, she reminds us we need to restock.

Of course, pretzels are great for more than just snacking. They also add texture and flavor to a variety of recipes. As you can see from the video, Frito-Lay Executive Chef Jody Denton shares some ways that he likes to enjoy pretzels. While a few sound pretty awesome, I’m most intrigued by chocolate-dipped pretzel ice cream sandwiches. Uhhh. YUM! Most of Chef Denton’s Rold Gold recipes utilize whole pretzels. I’ve rounded up (like with the avocado recipes) a handful of fun and delicious recipes from some of my colleagues… many who see the value in crushing them up!

Hopefully these recipes will get your creative juices flowing. Add Pretzel Thins, the latest line of Rold Gold products, to the ingredient list and the possibilities are even wider!
